Is your dog coughing or sneezing?

If so, please make sure to let our staff know. Allergy season is upon us, but we have also been made aware of a few reports of kennel cough and it can be hard to distinguish the difference! To continue to be as proactive as possible, we ask you to notify staff if your dog is displaying any symptoms.

Please do not bring any sick or symptomatic pets into the shop. Thank you! 

You may have heard that cases of Kennel Cough are on the rise in the Capital District. At Pet Spas & Suites, we sanitize our facility daily, we have our air ducts cleaned on a regular basis, and we have a 24/7 fresh air system to help minimize the presence of irritants and contagions. We also require up-to-date vaccinations for all of our daycare, boarding and grooming pets.

Even with all these precautions, it is difficult to absolutely prevent kennel cough from occurring. We highly recommend that your pet have an updated Bordetella vaccination a minimum of 7-10 days before bringing them anywhere other dogs might be. To date, out of the hundreds of dogs that have visited Pet Spas & Suites for daycare, boarding or grooming in the last few weeks, we have had just two reported cases of kennel cough (08/11/2021). We are diligently working to do everything we can in order to prevent any further cases, and we ask that you do your part, as well.

If your dog is coughing, sneezing or has any green/yellow discharge from their eyes – these are symptoms that could be a sign of kennel cough or conjunctivitis. Please keep them home and do not allow them to have any contact with other dogs. Although it is usually a relatively minor respiratory illness for most dogs, it’s very important to do your part to stop the spread. We recommend that you contact your pet’s veterinarian if you have questions or concerns.

We will not charge any fees for cancellations due to suspected cases of kennel cough and we ask that you let us know as soon as possible if your pet becomes symptomatic after spending time with us. We can be reached via email at info@petspasandsuites.com or by phone at 518-783-5506.
